Toolbar

At the top left you can see these buttons:

  • New Article. Pressing this button will present the Joomla edition screen to create a new article (or the choosen element type) in the selected source language.
  • Refresh Status of All Sets. Some changes in the state of the sets of translations are not updated immediately. To ensure that the state is updated you should press this button in the following cases:
    • - When you add or delete a content language.
    • - When changing the status of a category that has descendants.
    • - At any time when there is some doubt whether the state is updated.
  • Mark Set as Completed. When the status of a Set of Translations is 'Modified' you can manually change the status to 'Complete'. You will probably want to do that when all changes you had made to one or more items on the set had been finished. You can change the status of one or more items at once by checking their rows (the second column) and clicking this button.
  • Quick Actions. Pressing this button will display a list of actions that will be taken on all the elements in the list that have a check in its checkbox. Actions will be taken immediately on all the selected target languages when the action button is clicked.

Propagate order:

Pressing this button will propagate the existing order in the elements checked in the list to all the translation elements in all the selected languages.

At the top right you can see these buttons:

  • Help. Opens this Help Screen.
  • Language manager Options. Opens the Joomla Language Manager options window.
  • Options. Opens the KMFasTrans Options window. Allows setting of configuration options.

Language Tools

When you press the button, the following drop-downs are shown (or hidden):

Selecting the Source Language

You have to select the source language of the translations in this drop-down list. The items in the list whose id appears in the ID column and whose title appears in the Title column will be items whose language is the language selected in this list (the source items).

Selecting Target Languages

In this drop-down list you can select the languages you want to see in the window. The list includes all the existing content languages in the published and unpublished state, except the source language that you have selected in the - Select Source Language - drop down.

Each time you add a language, the added language column is displayed without reloading the page (using Ajax processes). When you remove a language, the corresponding column is hidden.

Because adding and removing languages is very fast, you can adapt the languages you are using with total freedom.

Reloading the page

You can reload the page with three different sets of content languages:

Filters

The first set of filters contains the following filters:

Element Type

You have to select, in this drop-down list, the type of the elements you want to list.

Filter Title, Id or Set

If you type some string diferent from 'id:xxxx' or 'set:xxxx' and press the magnifying glass, only elements whose title contains the typed string will be listed.

If you type 'id:xxx' where xxx is a number, the element whose id is 'xxx' if any, will be listed.

If you type 'set:xxx' where xxx is a number, all the elements that are assigned to the set of translations whose number is xxx will be listed.

Sorting Filters

On the right side are the filters used to sort the items in the list

The second set of filters contains the following filters:

The first three are common to all types of elements and the others depend on the type of element selected. In the image, in which 'Articles' was selected as the element type, the fourth filter is used to select or not the featured articles.

Selecting Element Status

If you choose Select Status, all elements will be displayed regardless of their status. This selection only affects the elements whose ID and title appear in the columns ID and Title. It does not affect the elements that appear in any language columns.

Selecting source language items

In this drop-down list you can select the elements of the source language that you want to have in the list based on its association status. The tip obtained when hovering the mouse over the drop-down list provides enough information to make the selection.

Selecting Inconsistent items

If you choose Inconsistencies only, only elements that have an inconsistency will be displayed, both in the source language and in any of the selected target languages.

If you choose Select Incons, all elements will be displayed whether or not they have inconsistencies.

Explaining each row

Now we will review the content that is displayed in each row

Column Headers

The header of the list has the following columns

  • Checkbox. Check this box to select one or more sets of the list. To select all sets, check the box in the column heading. After one or more boxes are checked, click a toolbar button to take an action on the selected set or sets. Some toolbar actions, such as Mark Set as Completed, can work with one or more sets. Others, such as Refresh Status of All Sets work with all sets regardless of the content of the checkboxes.
  • Status. The status of source item. Clicking on the icons will change the status of the item.

  • ID. This is a unique identification number for this item assigned automatically by Joomla!. It is used to identify the item internally, and you cannot change this number

  • Menu/Category/Extension/Module Type. This column title is variable depending on the selected element type. It is 'Category' in most cases, but it can be 'Extension' for Categories, 'Menu' for Menu-Items, 'Module Type' for Modules, or nothing for 'Menus'. Its content for each row is what the heading says. For Categories and Menu-Items, clicking on the heading will order the elements by its hierarchy of descendants.
  • Title . The source item title. When clicking on the Title, the Joomla editing screen will be displayed in order to edit the source item. When exiting the Joomla editing window, you will return to this window.
  • Translation Set. The set of translations to which this element belongs (if any). It consists of the 'Set Number' and the 'Set Status' (Complete, Incomplete or Modified). If you click the Set Number you will see the Set Details Screen (it is explained below).

The Set Details window

When clicking on the set number the following pop-up window will be shown:

For more detailed information on Set Details visit Sets of Translations.

If you hover the mouse over the Set Status Icon you will see the status (Complete, Incomplete or Modified), and if it is 'Completed' you will also see the completion date and time.

The other status icon indicates if any item in the set has inconsistencies, even if its language is not showing because it has not been selected as a target language.

Actions in all selected target languages

It contains several buttons to take some actions on the elements in all the selected target languages. The following images show the buttons and their meaning.

Clicking on the little black down arrow, more buttons less frequently used are shown. And a tip is also shown when hovering the mouse over each button.

Language columns

The remaining columns contain the items of the set of translations that are translations of the source item. There is one column by language and as many languages as they are selected in the dropdown-list  - Select Target Languages -.

Each column can have two different buttons visible depending on whether the element already exists and belongs to the set of translations, or there is no set of translations or the set of translations does not contain an element in that language.

The status of the item and the language are also shown:

The visible buttons in each column are as follow:

If the element exists and belongs to the set of translations, as in the case of the German language in the following image, you will see an button. If there is no set of translations or the set of translations does not contain an element in that language, as is the case of the Italian language, you will see a button.

By hovering the mouse over the button or the button you will see the following tips:

You can also filter the list by "Not Associated" or "Select Association" using the drop-down list in the top.  By default, the value of this filter is "Not Associated", meaning that the list only contains elements not belonging to any other translation set.
